RESPECT women – Preventing violence against women

CATEGORY
Report, Layout

Violence against women is a major public health problem deeply rooted in gender inequality. It constitutes a serious violation of women’s basic human rights and has a significant impact on the well-being and health of countless women and girls.

In an effort to eliminate such violence, a comprehensive package/framework was created, and I was asked by the WHO team to design a highly recognizable layout incorporating direct informational content and graphics preventing violence against women, titled “RESPECT – Preventing Violence Against Women: A Framework for Policymakers”.

This framework is based on the UN Plan of Action to Prevent Violence Against Women established in 2015 and incorporates the latest evidence and updates:

R – elationship skills strengthened
E – mpowerment of women
S – ervices ensured
P – overty reduced
E – nvironments made safe
C – hild and adolescent abuse prevented
T – ransformed attitudes, beliefs, and norms

The full report can be viewed at this link. Note that the visual style of the main document (the only one I designed) gave rise to a series of subsequent documents that were created directly by WHO’s in-house designers.
